Birgit Birnbacher
Birgit Birnbacher, born in 1985, lives in Austria. She has received numerous awards for her prose. In 2016, her debut Wir ohne Wal (Jung und Jung) was published and awarded the Jürgen Ponto Foundation Prize for Literature. 2019 she received the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize for her story Der Schrank. In 2020 her second novel Ich an meiner Seite (Zsolnay Verlag) was publsihed and nominated for the German Book Prize. In 2023 her thrid novel Wovon wir leben (also Zsolnay) was published and nominated for the Austrian Book Prize.
