Elisa Marie Hoven

Elisa Hoven, born in Berlin in 1982, is Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Leipzig and a judge at the Constitutional Court of Saxony. She has conducted research in Cambridge, Harvard, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Phnom Penh, Basel and Sydney. She is passionate about criminal law, focussing on the genesis and consequences of crime. In addition to fiction, she writes non-fiction books (Strafsachen, DuMont, 2023) and columns in Zeit Verbrechen. She has written a children's book on criminal law with Juli Zeh (Der war's, Carlsen, 2023).
