Hans-Hermann Klare

Hans-Hermann Klare, born in 1956, was a writer and senior editor at Stern for many years. His reportages deal with the end of apartheid in South Africa, the genocide in Rwanda and the indigenous uprising in Mexico. His portrait of the American war photographer James Nachtwey was the basis for the Oscar-nominated documentary War Photographer. He has been involved with UN refugee aid in Germany for many years and has been chairman of the foundation's board of trustees since 2016.
