Timur Vermes
Timur Vermes, born in Nuremberg in 1967 as the son of a German and a Hungarian. He studied history and politics in Erlangen and then worked as a journalist and ghostwriter. He wrote for the Abendzeitung and the Kölner Express until 2001 and later for several magazines. His 2012 novel Er ist wieder da is one of the most successful German debuts of recent decades. His second novel Die Hungrigen und die Satten was on the bestseller list for weeks in 2018. His third novel U (2021) was also widely received.
