The Literary Agency Gaeb & Eggers is a full-service agency and represents German-speaking as well as Latin American authors regarding their book and film rights in Germany and abroad.

We have a broad international network and work with a number of qualified partner agencies worldwide. In addition, we represent a selection of US, UK, South African, French and Italian publishers and agencies on the German market.

Our agency work is based on the long experience and expertise of our agents and is involved in every aspect of our authors' careers, from the conception of a project to negotiating publishing contracts - and beyond. We advise our authors on strategic decisions and are committed to the success of their books at all levels. Our authors cover a broad spectrum: from upmarket literature to commercial fiction and children's and young adult books to commercial as well as upmarket non-fiction.

Michael Gaeb

Michael Gaeb, born in 1973, studied Comparative Literature and Philosophy in Bonn, Toulouse, Edinburgh and Berlin. From 1999 to 2001 he worked for German and French publishing houses and agencies and was co-owner of a literary agency from 2001 to 2003. In 2003 he founded his own agency with its focus on German and Spanish-language literature. From 2003-2005 he was curator of the Berlin International Poetry Festival. In 2003 he was a Fellow of the Frankfurt Book Fair, and in 2007 a Fellow of the Jerusalem Book Fair.

Petra Eggers

Petra Eggers

Petra Eggers, born in 1958, studied Literature in Constance and Paris. After receiving her doctorate, she worked as an editor at Suhrkamp Verlag and Fischer Verlag in Frankfurt. In 1986, she founded the Petra Eggers Literary Agency in Berlin. After several years in New York for the agency Eggers & Landwehr, she continued her own agency Eggers in Berlin.

Eva Semitzidou

Eva Semitzidou

Eva Semitzidou, born in 1980, studied French and Spanish literature as well as theatre, movie and media science. She also completed a degree in book and media practice in Frankfurt and Lyon. Since 2008, she works at the Michael Gaeb Literary Agency. She is a primary agent in the fields of German literary and commercial fiction as well as fiction for children and young adults. Eva is also responsible for the French clients on the German-language market.

Adam Heise

Adam Heise

Adam Heise, born in 1990, studied English Studies, Comparative Literature, and Philosophy in Freiburg, Berlin, Canterbury, and Marseille. After working at Rowohlt Taschenbuchverlag and Rowohlt Berlin, he was responsible for fiction as an agent at Literarische Agentur Simon from 2015 to 2023. In 2023 he joined the Literary Agency Gaeb & Eggers in the same capacity.

Andrea Vogel

Andrea Vogel, born in 1986, studied Comparative Literature, Italian language and literature and Cultural Anthropology in Mainz and Perugia. After working in the press and editorial department at Kirchner Kommunikation, Verlag Klaus Wagenbach and Verlag diaphanes, she started working for Michael Gaeb Literary Agency in May 2014. She is primarily responsible for foreign rights, as well as the representation of Italian clients on the German market and film & television rights. Andrea was a Fellow at the Book Fairs in Turin (2015 and 2016), Milan (2017), Sharjah (2018 and 2019), Istanbul (2019), the film festival in Venice (2019) and the Jerusalem International Book Forum (2022).

Hanne Reinhardt

Hanne Reinhardt, born in Marburg in 1980, studied Cultural studies, Philosophy and Sociology in Berlin and Bordeaux. She worked as a literary agent for many years. Before that, she worked in the editorial department of Ullstein Buchverlage. She wrote reviews for the Literarische Welt, worked for the Literarische Colloquium Berlin and in the press office of the Jewish Museum Berlin. Today she is a freelance editor and ghostwriter, translates, leads writing seminars, and moderates readings.

Franziska Hippe

Franziska Hippe, born in 1983, studied German Studies, Theater Studies and Art History. After working in the licensing departments of Piper and Penguin Random House, she was responsible for foreign rights at the Petra Eggers agency. She is in charge of international licenses.

Bettina Wißmann

Bettina Wißmann

Born in 1974, she learned about the publishing branch during her law studies, interning at Bettina Schrewe Literary Scouting (New York), in the foreign rights department of Perseus Books Group (Boston), and at former Eichborn Berlin Verlag. After receiving her law degree, she worked in the management of two major theaters in Berlin, before joining the team of Michael Gaeb Literary Agency in 2014. She is responsible for international contracts, legal issues and filmrights.

Dirk Geisler

Dirk Geisler was born in 1971. After training as a bookseller and studying German Studies, he worked for Eggers & Landwehr KG from 2002 to 2008, then for the Petra Eggers agency. He is responsible for the German contracts and, together with Dorothea Linke, the royalties.

Dorothea Linke

Dorothea Linke, born 1977, trained as a bookseller in Berlin, employed as a bookseller in the librairie francaise of Galeries Lafayette during and after her Romance studies.
Since 2023 at the Literary Agency Michael Gaeb. Together with Dirk Geisler, she is responsible for royalties. In addition, she is also the assistant of the managing directors.

Clara Bentje Schröder

Clara Bentje Schröder, born 1989, studied German Philology, Journalism and Communication Studies as well as Applied Literary Studies in Berlin. After several internships and a traineeship at various German publishing houses, she has been working since 2023 as an agent and assistant for international rights at the Literary Agency Gaeb & Eggers.

América Gutiérrez Espinosa

América Gutiérrez Espinosa

América Gutiérrez Espinosa was born in 1977. She studied at the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana and has been a part of the cultural and literary industry in the Americas, establishing herself as an editor, journalist, screenwriter, and curator of literary catalogs. She has worked for Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial México and currently serves as an editor and section head for Publishers Weekly en Español. Gutiérrez has cultivated a multi-platform experience that spans from television to the publishing industry, giving her a unique insight into the impact of stories and the fundamental role of literature in today's society.
