Antonio Ortuño was born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1976. His articles, stories and critics have been published in several cultural magazines such as Letras Libres, La Tempestad and Lateral. In 2007, he received the newcomer award of the prestigious Herralde Prize. Ortuño was included in the Granta Magazine, dedicated to the best Spanish writers in 2011. He is winner of the Ribera del Duero Prize 2017, winner of the Premio Bellas Artes de Cuento Hispanoamericano 2018, nominated for the Premio de Cuento Gabriel García Márquez 2019 and selected for the prestigious Berlin writers-in-residence-program by DAAD.
