Dimitré Dinev

Dimitré Dinev, born in Bulgaria in 1968, began publishing his first texts in Bulgarian, Russian and German in 1986. In 1990, he fled across the border to Austria, where he then completed his studies in philosophy and Russian philology in Vienna in 1991. His first novel, Engelszungen (Tongues of Angels, Deuticke, 2003), won several awards and was a great success with critics and the public. The short stories Ein Licht über dem Kopf were published by Deuticke Verlag in 2005. In addition to his work as a freelance writer, he has an extensive oeuvre as a playwright and screenwriter. In 2023 he was awarded the Manès Sperber Prize. He lives and works in Vienna.
