Gunnar Cynybulk

Gunnar Cynybulk was born in Jena in 1970 and grew up in Leipzig and a smalltown in Bavaria. As a publisher at Aufbau Verlag, Ullstein Buchverlage, and Kanon Verlag—which he founded—his interest has always been stories about Germany. His debut novel, Das halbe Haus, was awarded the LITCologne Prize and described by the Süddeutsche Zeitung as “a profound insight into the history of mentalities” during the Cold War. His second novel, Die Besucherin, is based on ten years of research into family and contemporary history.
