Johannes Groschupf

Johannes Groschupf, born in Braunschweig in 1963, grew up in Lüneburg. Studied German, American Studies and Journalism at the Freie Universität in Berlin. Travelled for many years as a freelance travel journalist for Die Zeit, FAZ, FR and others. 1994 helicopter crash in the Sahara. In 1998, this experience led to the radio feature The Crash, which was awarded the Robert Geisendörfer Prize the following year. Afterwards literary works, especially youth books, and articles for Tagesspiegel and Berliner Zeitung. Most recently published: the thriller Berlin Prepper (2019), for which Groschupf received the German Crime Prize (1st place) and the Political Crime Prize of the Heinrich Böll Foundation Baden-Württemberg 2020, and the thriller Berlin Heat (2021), for which he was awarded the German Crime Prize (2nd place).
