Katherina Braschel

Katherina Braschel (born in Salzburg in 1992) lives and works as a freelance writer in Vienna, where she also studied theatre, film and media studies.
She has received various awards and scholarships for her writing, including the Rauriser Literaturtage 2019 sponsorship award, the Wortmeldungen Förderpreis 2019, the Startstipendium of the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Public Service and Sport 2021 and 2023, and the Franz-und-Eugenie-Kain-Literaturpreis 2024.
In 2024, she spent four months as a writer in residence at the Max Kade Foundation at Bowling Green State University Ohio, where she wrote and taught creative writing.
Her texts have been published internationally, for example in kolik, SALZ, Journal of Austrian Studies, Austrian Broadcasting Corporation and in anthologies.
In 2020, es fehlt viel was published by edition mosaik.
In spring 2026, her debut novel Heim holen will be published by Residenz Verlag.
