Kholoud Charaf

Kholoud Charaf, born 1981 in the South of Syria (Druzen) is a poet, novelist, and human rights activist living in exile since 2018. She studied media technology and Arabic literature at the University of Damascus. Charaf has been awarded several international fellowships as a guest writer, including residencies in Poland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany and Austria. Her poetry has been translated into more than ten languages. In 2019, she was awarded the prestigious Ibn Battuta Prize for Travel Literature by the Arab Center for Geographic Literature (Abu Dhabi). Her latest novel, Diaries I Have Nothing to Do with, has been nominated for the 2024 Arabic Booker Prize.
