Natalja Althauser
Natalja Althauser, born in Heidelberg in 1991, is a freelance actress, author and director. She grew up in The Hague, Moscow and Berlin. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Slavic Studies and Philosophy in Freiburg and did her Master's in Contemporary Performing Arts at the Royal Holloway University of London. She then performed at the Theater der Immoralisten (Freiburg) before moving to the Slavic Department of the Albert Ludwig University as a lecturer in interdisciplinary film, theatre and literary studies, where she directed short films (including Liebe, Alles auf Anfang) and plays (including Cinzano, awarded the Preis für Innovative Lehre of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg 2020) with students. In 2019, she began her master’s degree in Literary Writing at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig, where she worked on her first play and novel over a period of two years. In 2023, her play Gottlos was published by Deutscher Theaterverlag. In December 2024, the non-fiction book Was Menschen verbindet - Sozialer Klimawandel durch moderne Wertschätzung will be published by Springer Verlag. Her novel debut with Piper Verlag is planned for autumn 2025.
