Sepp Mall
Sepp Mall, born in 1955 in Graun (South Tyrol), grew up in the Upper Vinschgau and has lived in Merano since 1993. He is a poet, novelist, and translator from Italian.
He has received numerous awards, including the Merano Poetry Prize (1996), the Austrian State Grant for Literature (2011), and the Major Literary Grant of the Province of Tyrol (2017). His novel Wundränder (Haymon Verlag) was selected as the 2005 “Innsbruck Reads” title and is now widely taught in schools.
His most recent novel, Ein Hund kam in die Küche (Leykam, 2023), was nominated for the German Book Prize and awarded the Premio Merano Europa in 2024. Several of his works are available in Italian translation from Keller editore; a first selection of his poems in Italian appeared in 2025.
