Sophia Merwald
Sophia Merwald, born in 1998, studied journalism and film and media culture research in Eichstätt, Lillehammer and Munich. She gives workshops on rage writing and works as a freelance journalist and editor at the Munich Film Festival. Her poetry and prose has been nominated for various prizes, including the Wortmeldungen Förderpreis 2022. She has also been a scholarship holder of various funding programs, such as the Klagenfurt Literature Course or the Bayerische Akademie des Schreibens. Her debut novel has won several awards and has been nominated for the Alfred Döblin Prize 2025. It will be published by Ullstein Verlag in spring 2026.
