Swantje Furtak

Swantje Furtak, born in 1999, came to the moor while studying biochemistry and has been immersed in the subject ever since. She has conducted research in the tropical swamp forests of Peru, created a documentary film in the Irish Midlands, researched peat extraction in Latvia and speaks to German farmers. She is fascinated by how closely people and marshland are interwoven. In addition to the scientifically measurable, she searches for emotions, memories and stories. She wrote her first book Moore sind wie Menschen, nur nasser together with moorland professor Hans Joosten. It was published by Katapult Verlag in May 2024.
