Theodora Bauer
Theodora Bauer, born in Vienna in 1990. She studied journalism, communication science and philosophy at the University of Vienna. She published her debut novel Das Fell der Tante Meri (2014) and the second novel Chikago (2017) with Picus Verlag. With her plays, Theodora Bauer has been under contract with Schultz & Schirm since 2016.
She participated in the 20th Klagenfurt Literature Course as part of the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize with the manuscript of Chikago
(2016). She received the Recognition Prize of the Burgenland Foundation Theodor Kery for Chikago (2018) and the Dramatists* Scholarship of the Federal Government for a play in progress (2018). The Süddeutsche Zeitung put Chikago on its list of 10 Books of the Year (2017). In 2019, Theodora Bauer received the Förderungspreis für Literatur der Stadt Wien. In 2019-2020, she spent two months at the German House at New York University in NYC as part of a writing residency. In Spring Term 2022, Bauer was Writer in Residence and Visiting Lecturer at BGSU (Bowling Green State University) in Ohio. She is the recipient of both the Federal Project Grant for her new novel and the rotahorn Literary Award. She also hosts the literary program literaTOUR, which is broadcasted on the Austrian channel ServusTV.
